He added, "We need to use it and spread the word. It's the <br /> right thing to do." Vice Mayor Teague announced that "National Night Out" will be held <br /> on Tuesday, August 7, 2001. <br /> <br /> Council considered the need to meet in Closed Session. In accordance with <br /> Section 2.1-344 (A) of the Code of Virginia (1950, and as amended) and upon motion <br /> by Council Member Roop, duly seconded, and by unanimous recorded vote, Council <br /> convened in Closed Session, for the purpose of discussing the following matter: <br /> <br /> A. Appointment to the Piedmont Community Services Board, as <br /> authorized by Subsection 1. <br /> <br /> At the conclusion of this Closed Session, each member of Council certified that <br />(1) only public business matters exempt from open meeting requirements were <br />discussed in said Closed Session; and (2) only those business matters identified in the <br />motion convening the Closed Session were heard, discussed, or considered during said <br />Session. Upon return to Open Session, Council took the following action: <br /> <br /> A. Council Member Roop moved t° appoint Carolyn L. Lackey, of <br /> 1512 White Oak Court, to a three-year term on the Piedmont Community <br /> Services Board, expiring June 30, 2004; the motion was duly secon~led <br /> and carried by the following vote, with all members present voting: Vote 3 <br /> - 1; Yeas (3) - Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (1) - Dallas. <br /> <br /> There being no further business to come before Council during their regular <br />meeting, upon motion by Council Member Dallas, duly seconded, by unanimous vote, <br />Vice Mayor Teague declared the meeting adjourned at 8:37 P.
