102 <br /> <br />June 26,2001 <br /> <br />hereby agrees to reimburse the Virginia 'Department of <br />Transportation for the total amount of the costs expended by the <br />Department through the date the Department is notified of such <br />cancellation. <br /> <br />Council considered adoption of a Resolution supporting an environmental impact <br /> <br />review of the Martinsville Generation Facility (CINCAP Martinsville, LLC) in Commerce <br /> <br />Court Industrial Park by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality. Council <br /> <br />Member Roop moved to adopt the following Resolution; the motion was duly seconded <br /> <br />and carried by the following vote, with all members present voting: Vote 4 - 0; Yeas (4) <br /> <br />- Crabtree, Dallas, Roop, Teague; Nays (0)- None: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Martinsviile Generation Facility has been sited in <br />Commerce Court Industrial Park in the City of Martinsville on an <br />industrial lot appropriately zoned for heavy manufacturing and <br />power generation; and <br />WHEREAS, there are no known environmental constrains or <br />potential problems on this previously undeveloped property; and <br />WHEREAS, the Martinsville Generation Facility will promote <br />employment, capital investment, industrial expansion and <br />recruitment, construction activity and other contributions to the <br />improvement of economic and employment conditions in our area; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Martinsville Generation Facility will directly <br />contribute very substantial tax revenue to the City of Martinsville <br />and will fuel the growth of the Martinsville tax base for generations <br />to come and will promote the population and development growth <br />of the region; and <br />WHEREAS, the location of the Martinsville Generation Facility in <br />the City of Martinsville is absolutely critical to the orderly and <br />healthy development of Martinsville - Henry County and the <br />surrounding area, to help bring more industry, more jobs, higher <br />paying jobs, growth in the tax base and a better standard of <br />economic living to our area; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular session assembled June 26, 2001, that it does <br />hereby recommend full and expeditious support of the <br />environmental impact review of the Martinsville Generation Facility <br />by the Department of Environmental Quality. <br /> <br /> <br />
