June 12,2001 <br /> <br />the Henry County representation to six by not appointing one of two City positions <br />expiring June 30, 2005, and transferring one City position currently held by a CountY <br />resident; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all <br />members voting: Vote 4 - 1; Yeas (4) - Crabtree, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (1) - <br />Dallas. <br /> <br /> Council considered Henry County's proposal for an Economic Development <br />Office. Mayor Crabtree presented a historical review of the Southern Virginia Economic <br />Council and the Patrick Henry Development Council. Council discussed the County's <br />proposal and questioned the board composition and fiscal agent. John Sanders, of 208 <br />Starling Avenue, and George Harris, of 1309 Mulberry Road, spoke on the issue. Vice <br />Mayor Teague moved to express interest to Henry County in discussing water, sewer, <br />regional industrial park, and other collaborative opportunities; the motion was duly <br />seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas <br />(5) - Crabtree, Dalas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. Council considered the <br />need to meet in Closed Session. In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the Code of <br />Virginia (1950, and as amended) and upon motion by Council Member Dallas, duly <br />seconded, and by unanimous recorded vote, Council convened in Closed Session, for <br />the purpose of consultation with legal counsel, as authorized by Subsection 7. Upon <br />return from Closed Session, Council Member Ferrill read a draft response letter and <br />moved for its transmittal expressing agreement with all points except board composition <br />and fiscal agent; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with <br />all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; <br /> <br />Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> <br />
