March 13, 2001 <br /> <br /> A regular, semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, was held on March 13, 2001, in Council Chamber of the Municipal Building, <br />beginning at 7:32 P. M., with Mayor Mark Crabtree presiding. Council Members present <br />included: Mark A. Crabtree, Mayor; M. Gene Teague, Vice Mayor; and Council <br />Members Bruce H. T. Dallas, J. Ronald Ferrill, and Terry L. Roop. <br /> <br /> Following the invocation by Council Member Ferrill, Mayor Crabtree welcomed <br />everyone to the meeting. <br /> <br /> Council considered approval of the Minutes. Council Member Ferrill moved to <br />approve the Minutes of February 27, 2001, as presented; the motion was duly seconded <br />and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - <br />Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> Council considered business from the floor. John Sanders, of 208 Starling <br />Avenue, expressed dissatisfaction with the proposed economic development with the <br />County of Henry. Mayor Crabtree responded that the public process for answers has <br />not been determined. <br /> <br /> Earl B. Reynolds, Jr., City Manager, reported that the City's booth at the recent <br />Madinsville-Henry County Trade Show won "Best in Show" honors, entitling the City to a <br />free booth in next year's event and $500 being donated to a nonprofit organization of its <br />choice. Council Member Roop moved to recommend that the $500 award be donated <br />to the William Slate Memorial Scholarship at Patrick Henry Community College; the <br />motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: <br />Vote 5 -0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, TeagL~e;-Nays (0) ~-.None:.~, ,. ~ <br /> <br /> <br />
