Vice Mayor Teague moved to set a public hearing for March 13, <br /> 2001, to discuss the possible sale of three lots on Commonwealth <br /> Boulevard to Commonwealth Associates; the motion was duly <br /> seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members <br /> voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, <br /> Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> C. No action. <br /> <br /> Council considered approval of the Minutes. Vice Mayor Teague moved to <br />approve the Minutes of January 23, 2001, February 8, 2001, and February 20, 2001, as <br />presented, and the Minutes of February 13, 2001, as amended; the motion was duly <br />seconded and carded by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - O; Yeas <br />(5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. <br /> <br /> Council considered business from the floor. Barry Wyatt, of 916 Vine Street, <br />stated, "1 would like to know the progress of Hooker Field regarding high school <br />practices and games." Earl B. Reynolds, Jr., City Manager, replied, "1 spoke with Carter <br />Construction Company today. The best case completion date is April 12, and the worst <br />case completion date is April 23. The school system doesn't have a department to take <br />care of it. It's now up to professional standards." Mr. Wyatt asked, "Are 'the Astros <br />paying for the upkeep? I feel that the taxpayers are." City Manager Reynolds replied, <br />"Yes, the Astros are paying $40,000 per year." Vice Mayor Teague asked, "VVhat <br />additional resources are required to upkeep to professional standards?" Tony Rinaldi, <br />Leisure Services Director, replied, "Last year, approximately $10,000 was spent for <br /> <br />personnel, equipment, and supplies." <br />believes that the arrangement with <br /> <br />Council Member Roop stated, "The high school <br />Hooker includes high school usage. My <br /> <br />understanding was that the high school could use it for practices and games. Tonight's <br />the first time i've heard that it takes extra money for practices and games."
