Phillips <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Martinsville City Council recognizes the importance of clean streets, <br />parks, roads, homes and businesses in the City of Martinsville; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Council understands that many economic development efforts require a <br />good "first impression" that comes with clean streets and thoroughfares; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the responsibility of creating and maintaining a clean community lies with <br />all residents of the Community; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the period of May 5 through May 12, 2001 is "Operation Spruce-Up" in <br />the Commonwealth of Virginia, when residents are encouraged to work together to clean, <br />straighten or repair homes, businesses, vacant lots, roadsides, and any other areas in the <br />Community that need assistance; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular <br />session assembled on April 24, 2001, that it does hereby endorse the Clean Community <br />Commission of Martinsville and Henry County's efforts to promote May 5-12, 2001, as <br />"Operation Spruce-Up" in the City of Martinsville and to further encourage all <br />residents of the City to participate in the team effort to make our Community an even <br />better place in which to work and live. <br /> <br />Attest: <br /> <br />Johnathan B.
