Wayne Knox, Planning, Zoning, & Housing Manager, <br />stated that the Planning Commission did not receive any public comments and <br />unanimously approved this recommendation on March 22, 2001. Mayor Crabtree <br />declared the Public Hearing open. With no response, he declared the Public Headng <br />closed. Council Member Ferdll moved to adopt the following Ordinance, on an <br />emergency basis; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following roll call <br />vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, <br />Teague; Nays (0) - None: <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> Virginia, is regular session assembled, that in order to assure <br /> compliance with Virginia Code Section 15.2-2200, it is stated that <br /> the purpose for which this Ordinance is initiated is to promote the <br /> public health, safety, convenience and welfare of its citizens and to <br /> plan for the future development of the community, that the Zoning <br /> Map of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, be - and is hereby - <br /> amended to the extent that Parcels 47(1 )10, 11 and a portion of 12 <br /> on the Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville, in the Deerfield Acres <br /> Subdivision (Stage C), located at the end of the proposed extension <br /> of Independence Drive, is hereby rezoned from M-2 Industrial to R- <br /> 6 Residential. <br /> BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency <br /> existing, this ordinance shall be in force immediately upon adoption. <br /> <br /> Council considered conducting a Public Headng and adopting an Ordinance on a <br /> request by the City to amend the Proposed Land Use Map of the City's Comprehensive <br /> <br /> <br />
