TUESDAY, January 9, 2001 resolve the matter. Council Member Fer~ll asked the status of the City's garbage recycling efforts. City Manager Reynolds said that the former vendor withdrew from the program due to the absence of profits in the project, and that-no new vendor could be located to continue a 'similar program. Council Member Fenill stated that he thought recycling was a high priority for the City, and that the City may need to consider subsidizing recycling efforts. In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended) and upon motion, duly seconded, and by unanimous 'recorded vote, Council convened in Closed Session forthe purpose of discussing the following matter: A. Consultation with legal counsel, as authorized by Subsection 7. City Council then adjourned and convened as the Martinsville Redevelopment and Housing Authority. In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) ofthe 'CODE 'OF VIRGINIA (1950, 'and as amended)and upon motion, duly seconded, and by unanimous recorded vote, Council convened in Closed Session for the purpose of discussing the -following matter: A. Possible acquisition of real property for public purpose, as authorized by Subsection 3. At the conclusion ofthi's 'Closed Session, each member of'Council certified that (1) only public'business matters exempt from open meeting requirements were discussed in said closed session; and (2) only those business matters identified in the motion convening 'the'Closed Session were 'heard, discussed, or'considered during said Session. Following their return to open meeting, Council took'the following 'action: A. No action taken. City Council then adjourned and convened as the Martinsville Redevelopment 'and Housing Authority.
