AN ORDINANCE <br /> <br />ABANDONING STREET SPACE <br /> CITY OF MARTINSVILLE <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in <br />regular session assembled, that in order to assure compliance with Virginia Code <br />Section 15.2-2200, it is intended that the public purpose for which this Ordinance <br />is initiated is to encourage localities to improve the public health, safety, <br />convenience, and welfare of its citizens and to plan for the future development of <br />communities - that the street, as described below, be-- and is hereby -- declared <br />- vacated and abandoned in favor of the Commonwealth Boulevard Associates, <br />LLC, subject to payment to the City of one-half of the assessed valuation of the <br />property and the filing of an appropriate map with--and the approval by-- the <br />City's Planning, Zoning and Housing Manager, showing the areas hereby <br />declared vacated and abandoned, which map, when and as approved, shall be duly <br />recorded in the Office of the Clerk of Martinsville City Circuit Court: <br /> <br /> A road space 30-feet wide and approximately 500-feet long known as <br />Townes Street located west of Franklin Street and north of Commonwealth <br />Boulevard, as shown on the City Tax Map 22(4&6). <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency existing, this <br />ordinance shall be in force immediately upon adoption. <br /> <br />Johnathan Phillips <br />Clerk of Council <br /> <br />Date Adopted <br /> <br />Date Effective <br /> <br /> <br />
