TUESDAY, January 9~ 2001 7 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Administration is directed to forward a copy of this Resolution to the Governor, the Chairpersons of the Senate and House Finance Committees, Senator Roscoe Reynolds, Delegates Ward Armstrong, Bamie Day, and Allen Dudley, and the Chairman of the Hertry County Board of Supervisors. Council considered the Consent Agenda with the following items: A, Accept and appropriate funding from the Commonwealth of Virginia for the FY2000-2001 General Fund Budget for the Commonwealth Attorney's Office, as follows: $4,290.72 into Revenue 01101916-434106 Equipment for Expenditure 01221082- 508201--Machinery & Equipment for purchasing Video Presentation Equipment. $1,300.00 into Revenue 01101916-434105--Office Expenses for Expenditure 01221082-506001----Office Supplies to assist in the operation of the office. Council moved upon motion duly seconded, with all members voting: Vote 5-0; Yeas (5)- Crabtree, Teague, Dallas, Fenill, and Roop; Nays (0)- None, to accept and appropriate the Consent Agenda items. In other matters, Mayor Crabtree stated that a letter was received from the U.S. Postal Service denying the City's request to deliver mail on both sides of the street in the Northside area of Liberty Street. The request was for the ultimate purpose of ensuring safety for residents that have to cross the street to get their mail. After discussion, it was decided that additional request letters should be forwarded to state and federal legislative bodies and officials. City Manager Reynolds distributed a schedule of dates for Council to conduct various department efficiency assessments. Council Member Roop said that he has received several inquiries regarding the boil water advisory issued by the City in December, and that he wished to comment on the letter written by City Manager Reynolds to Mr. Taylor of the Virginia Department of Health. Council Member Roop commended the City Manager for writing the letter and praised efforts by City employees in the work to resolve the matter. Council Member Fenill asked the status of the City's garbage recycling efforts. City Manager Reynolds said that the former vendor withdrew from the program due to the absence of profits in the project, and that no new vendor could be located to continue a similar program.
