The request
was for the ultimate purpose of ensuring safety for residents that have to cross the street to get their mail.
After discussion, it was decided that additional request letters should be forwarded to state and federal
legislative bodies and officials. City Manager Reynolds distributed a schedule of dates for Council to
conduct various department efficiency assessments. Council Member Roop said that he has received several
inquiries regarding the boil water advisory issued by the City in December, and that he wished to comment
on the letter written by City Manager Reynolds to Mr. Taylor of the Virginia Department of Health. Council
Member Roop commended the City Manager for writing the letter and praised efforts by City employees in
the work to resolve the matter. Council Member Fenill asked the status of the City's garbage recycling
efforts. City Manager Reynolds said that the former vendor withdrew from the program due to the absence
of profits in the project, and that no new vendor could be located to continue a similar program.
