Box 709 · Martinsville, VA 24114 · 540.632.6401 · Fax 540.632.5059 <br /> http://mh¢coc.martinsville.com · mhccoc@neocomrn.net <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION <br /> OF THE <br /> BOARD OF DIRECTORS <br />MARTINSVILLE-HENRY COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE <br /> <br />ACCREDITED <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia designates selected areas for economic <br />growth and revitalization under the Enterprise Zone Program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the recent actions of the Governor and the General Assembly expanded <br />the number of Enterprise Zones allowing communities to apply for such designation <br />and incentive benefits; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Martinsville-Henry County area has experienced significant job losses <br />over the past year, particularly in the textile industry, and continues to have <br />unemployment rates well above the state average; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Martinsville and the County of Henry intend to apply for a <br />· second Enterprise Zone designation and will be holding public hearings in November <br />and December 2000 as required by the Enterprise Zone regulations; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Enterprise Zone Program will greatly enhance the economic growth <br />of Martinsville and Henry County; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, on the 9m day of November 2000, during <br />a regularly scheduled Board Meeting, that the Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of <br />Commerce Board of Directors supports and endorses the application of the City of <br />Martinsville and the County of Henry for a second Enterprise Zone in Martinsville- <br />Hertry County. <br /> <br /> teven .
