CITY OF MARTINSVILLE, VIRGINIA <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 2000-5 <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular <br />session assembled on August 22, 2000, that it does hereby amend Section VII-- <br />General Sign Regulations, Paragraph C .-Permitted Signs and Paragraph N <br />Permitted Signs in Districts of the City' s Zoning Ordinance. <br /> <br />Amend Section VII, Paragraph C (Permitted Signs), 2, to read as follows: <br /> <br />C. Permitted Signs - General Signs Regulations <br /> <br />2. Real estate signs not exceeding eight (8) square feet in area and <br />advertising the sale or rental of the !and or building upon whlch such signs <br />are located. <br /> <br />2. "Real estate signs -In advertising any property for sale, rent, or lease, signs <br />with a combined total surface area not exceeding five (5) square feet are <br />permitted, and in addition, for each one hundred fifty (150)feet of lot line adjacent <br />to a public street, another five (5) square feet of signs are permitted. No such <br />signs shall be erected within ten (1 O)feet of any adjacent residential property, nor <br />within the City right - of- way ". <br /> <br />Amend Section VII, Paragraph N (Permitted Signs in Districts), to read as <br />follows: <br /> <br />N. Permitted Signs in Districts <br /> <br />"I. Signs - R - 16 Residential District. <br /> <br />1. A temporary real estate sign announcing the development of a new <br /> subdivision when only one (1) sign is erected on the land or building and <br /> when the sign is: <br /> a. Not illuminated; <br /> b. Fifty (50) square feet or less in area; <br /> Ten (1 O)feet or less in height; <br /> Twenty (20) feet or more from any existing or proposed street <br /> line; and, <br /> Fifty (50) feet or more from any existing or proposed street <br /> intersection or adjacent property. <br /> <br />d. <br /> <br />e, <br /> <br /> <br />
