Crabtree <br /> <br />I. Consider approval of minutes of City Council' s meetings of March 23, 29, and <br /> April 13, 1999. (See Enclosure #l-a, #1-b and #l-c) <br /> <br /> II. <br /> <br />III. <br /> <br />Business from the floor. <br /> <br />Conduct a public hearing and consider adoption of an Ordinance authorizing the <br />issuance of up to $4,200,000 principal amount of General Obligation Refunding <br />-Bonds of the City. (See Enclosure #2) <br /> <br />COMMENTS: We recommend that Council adopt the Ordinance as prepared by <br />our bond counsel. <br /> <br />Consider a request by Chris Dodson to address Council regarding storm drainage <br />at 400 Pond Street. <br /> <br />Consider authorizing the Treasurer to refund $3,456 to Leasetex Corporation for <br />an erroneous assessment on 1998 Business Personal Property taxes by the Office <br />of the Commissioner of the Revenue. (See Enclosure #3) <br /> <br />COMMENT'S: This is related to property (computer equipment and software) <br />leased to a manufacturer (American of Martinsville's office on Church Street) by <br />Leasetex Corporation that was not supposed to have been taxed. In compliance <br />with the State Code related to such a refunding, we recommend that Council <br />authorize the Treasurer to refund $3,456 to Leasetex Corporation from Revenue <br />01-000500-1101013roTaxes/Personal Property for Business Equipment. Com- <br />missioner of the Revenue Ronnie Minter will attend your meeting to answer any <br />.questions Council may have. <br /> <br />VI. Consider adoption of the School's budget request for Fiscal Year 1999-2000. <br /> <br />COMMENTS: State law requires that the local goveming body act on the <br />School budget by May 15. The Administration recommends that Council approve <br />the funding as presented in the City Manager's budget proposal for Fiscal Year <br />1999-2000. <br /> <br /> <br />
