Dallas <br /> <br />I. Consider approval of minutes of City Council's meeting of March 8, 1999. <br /> <br />COMMENTS: These minutes were distributed to Council prior to your March <br />23, 1999, meeting. <br /> <br />Consider presentation of Life Saving Medal by the Police Department to Police <br />Officer Ellcry E. Hooper for his prompt and decisive actions resulting in saving a <br />life. <br /> <br />COMMENTS: Officer Hooper's quick response when dispatched to a house on <br />Katheren Street probably resulted in saving the life of Mr. Oscar Thompson who <br />was having trouble breathing. Chief of Police David Edwards will attend to make <br />this presentation to Officer Hooper. <br /> <br />Business from the floor. <br /> <br />Conduct a public heating and consider adoption of a Resolution authorizing the <br />City Manager to file a Community Development Block Grant application for <br />$739,200 with the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development <br />for the Southside Comprehensive Community Development Project for a total <br />project cost of $1,221,595. (See Enclosure #1) <br /> <br />COMMENTS: Mr. Ken Poore will attend to answer any questions from the <br />public or Council regarding this project. We recommend that Council adopt the <br />Resolution as prepared. <br /> <br />Consider adoption of a Resolution expressing the City' s intent to affirmatively <br />further equal housing oppommities for its citizens in compliance with grant <br />funding for the Southside Rehabilitation Project. (See Enclosure #2) <br /> <br />COMMENTS: As arequirement of the City's Community Development Block <br />Grant for the Southside Rehabilitation Project, the City must annually commit to <br />providing fair housing oppommities. We recommend that Council adopt this <br />Resolution as prepared. <br /> <br /> <br />
