AGENDA <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />CITY OF MARTINSVILLE, VIRGINIA <br /> <br />City Council Chamber - Municipal Building <br />7:00 P.M. - November 24, 1998 <br /> <br />HI. <br /> <br />Invocation - Council Member Bruce H.T. Dallas <br /> <br />Business from the floor. <br /> <br />Conduct a duly advertised public hearing for the purpose of considering a propo- <br />sal to expend $33,730 in Local law Enforcement Block Grant Program funds to <br />purchase a Mobile Precinct/Command Center for the Police Department. <br /> <br />COMMENTS: This is required as a part of accepting the grant funds. There is <br />no official action required of Council following the public hearing. In addition <br />the City Manager, Chief of Police and Commonwealth' s Attorney will make <br />remarks regarding the programs and activities to enhance neighborhood safety. <br /> <br />Consider a request by the Martinsville-Henry County Rescue Squad for an <br />endorsement by the City of the Squad's request for a variance from the Virginia <br />Office of Emergency Medical Services regarding its certification as an accredited <br />advanced life-saving provider. <br /> <br />COMMENTS: Ms. Jean Lewis, Captain of the Squad, will attend your meeting <br />to present their request. <br /> <br />STAFF REPORT: <br /> <br />A. Financial Report for month ending 10/31/98. (See Enclosure #1) <br /> <br />CONSENT AGENDA I- FY1998-99 Budget: <br /> <br />A, <br /> <br />Accept and appropriate $7,078 received from various sources for the <br />Piedmont Regional Criminal Justice Training Academy in the General <br />Fund. <br /> <br />COMMENTS: We recommend Council accept these funds into Revenue <br />Accounts as follows, for expenditure in various accounts of the Academy: <br />$6,203 additional grant funding into 15-000500; $700 additional Patrick <br />County contribution into 15-000500-5101015; and $175 additional Fieldale <br />contribution into 15-000500-5101050 in the Criminal Justice Academy <br />Fund. <br /> <br /> <br />
