Consider approval of the minutes of City Council's meetings of March 27, <br />April 2, 2007. <br /> <br />2. Brief comments from Fred Hutchins, Regional Representative for Senator <br />Jim Webb. <br /> <br />3. Consider adoption, on second reading, of an Ordinance on a request by <br />the Planning Commission to close and abandon a portion of an unopened <br />15-foot alley between North Memorial Boulevard and Lavinder Street. <br /> <br />4. Consider request by the Virginia Municipal League to submit <br />nominations for membership on the VML 2007-2008 Policy Committees. <br /> <br />5. Consider apprOVing the submission of a llrant application for $5.466 to <br />the 2007-2008 Byrne Justice Assistance Grant # 07-B1223L006 (JAG <br />Grant). <br /> <br />6. Comments by Dr. Scott Kizner relating to school capital projects and <br />other school issues. <br /> <br />7. Discussion of Fire & EMS Department's Vehicle Replaceme nt Plan. <br /> <br />8. Discussion of acceptance of a $25.000 citizen donation to fund the <br />construction of a new animal control shelter and cover expenses <br />associated-with the switch to euthanasia of animals by lethal injection. <br /> <br />9. Business from the Floor <br /> <br />This section of the Council meeting provides citizens the <br />opportunity to discuss matters, which are not listed on the printed <br />agenda. In that the Council meetings are broadcast on Martinsville <br />Government Television, the City Council is responsible for the <br />content of the programming.
