Walker. <br /> <br />Minutes of the regular Council meeting held Harch 23, 1954, upon being read, <br /> <br />were approved. <br /> <br />Rev. J. G. Houck, of 109 Lflvinder Street, ap];Jeared before C01illcil and inquired <br /> <br />as to whether the City is interested in disposing of an eight-foot strip of <br /> <br />property (owned by the Ci t;y) between Lavinder Sh'eet end the nevl Route 220 <br /> <br />Thoroughfare. This inquiry W1S referred to the PlonninG Commi ssion for its <br /> <br />consideration ann recommendation. <br /> <br />After presentL'1g to the COill1cil the results of a recent su~~ey of local <br /> <br />sanitary (and/or unsanitary) conditions, with spocial emphasis on fly control, <br /> <br />representatives of the Henry-Hartinsvil1e Health Department pre~::;ented the <br /> <br />following recommendations applying to local refuse storage and collection: <br /> <br />1. Each household or business should have an approved type metal can. <br /> <br />2. Lids should remain on cans at all tines. <br /> <br />3. All premise should be kept free from tr,::sh and gc\rbage. <br /> <br />4. All eans sh01.:.1d have an approved t;y-pe s!:)rL'1g device for holding <br />lik on tightly. <br /> <br />5. Bulk;r rubbish should be tied in b1mdles to keep inkct ",.;hile <br />waiting for pickup. <br /> <br />6. Refuse violation tags should be used after initial period of <br />education. <br /> <br />7. Health Department should be given assistance to get program under <br />way and to inforce it after initial period. <br /> <br />In further consideration of these recormnendetions, C01.:trlcil referred to City <br /> <br />....1 <br />
