<br />218 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />ex:: TOBER 11, 1960 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br /> <br />V:irGinia, with Mayor J. Frank Wilson presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, <br /> <br /> <br />City Hall, Tuesday, October 11, 1960, at 7:15 P.M., and with all members being <br /> <br /> <br />present, viz., :Mayor and Councilman J. Frank Wilson; Vice-Mayor and Councilman <br /> <br /> <br />Dr'. Fred T. Renick; Councilman Thomas J. Burch; Councilman E. E. Stone; and <br /> <br /> <br />Councilman Harry L. Boaz. <br /> <br />After the :_nvocation, Council approved as read the minutes of its regular meeting <br /> <br />held Septerner 27, 1960. <br /> <br />In reviewing the business license tax reclassification petition recently pre- <br /> <br /> <br />sented by f'uller Tire Company through Attorney M. Harrison Joyce, Council <br /> <br />determined that the business operations of the petitioner do not warrant a <br /> <br /> <br />reclassification and, acc<Fdingly, Council unanimously denied the petition. <br /> <br />Council also denied the petition submitted September 27, 1960, by representatives <br /> <br />of local tobacco warehouse operators, requesting abolition of the local business <br /> <br />license tax imposed on these operators. <br /> <br />Effectirg its agreement recorded in its minutes of January 12, 1960, Council <br /> <br /> <br />approved for execution by the City of a deed of exchange with Finney & Blackard, <br /> <br />rnc., involving certain property on the west side of Memorial Boulevard North, <br /> <br />betwefm Salem and Sellers Streets. <br /> <br />Council was informed that a test rrrurfier has been received by Martinsville Go-Kart <br /> <br />Club for installation on one make of their vehicles, pursuant to their efforts to <br /> <br />curtail or abate noise emanating from the operation of these vehicles. <br />
