<br />18 <br /> <br />TUESDA Y <br /> <br />JULY 26. 1960 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor John W. Shultz presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, <br /> <br /> <br />City Hall, Tuesday, July 26, 1960, at 7:15 P.M., tne following members being <br /> <br /> <br />present: Ma.yor and Councilman John W. Shultz; Vice-Mayor and Councilman E. E. <br /> <br /> <br />Stone; Councilman Clarence C. Donavant; and Councilman J. Frank Wilson--the other <br /> <br /> <br />member, Councilman Thomas J. Burch, being absent. <br /> <br />,,- <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as read the minutes of its regular <br />meeting held July 14, 1960. <br /> <br />After considering the recent petition filed by Fuller Tire Company through its <br /> <br />counsel, Attorney Harrison Joyce, which petition reqllested the reclassifying for <br /> <br />business license tax purposes the petitioner's tire recapping business to that <br /> <br />of "processors ", Council OJ ntinued the request for further study. <br /> <br />In response to an inquiry from City Manager Hirst, Council directed that an <br /> <br />agreement be prepared for its consideration, which agreement would be between the <br /> <br />City of Martinsville and the Martinsville-Henry County Airport Development <br /> <br />Corporation and would, in addition to the standard conditions, incorporate terms <br /> <br />tentatively indicated by Council to the airport group pertaining to the contemplated <br />sale of the airport property and, further, would replace the present contract <br />between the two parties. Mr. R. P. Gravely, Jr., a representative of the airport <br />group, informed Council that on the basis of Council's verbal assurance of a new <br /> <br />five-year lease agreement, federal and state funds have been promised for the cost <br /> <br />of purchasing and installing lighting equipment for the tract now leased the airport <br /> <br />group. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council approved for City Manager <br /> <br />Hirst's signature an agreement (or lease) between the City and the M9.rtinsville <br />
