<br />18 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />J1JLY 12. 1960 <br /> <br />,,",,, <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor John W. Shultz presiding, was held in the Council <br /> <br /> <br />Chamber, City Hall, Tuesday, July 12, 1960, at 7:15 P.M., all members being <br /> <br /> <br />present, viz., Mayor and Councilman John W. Shultz; Vice-Mayor and Councilman <br /> <br />E. E. stone; and Councilmen Thomas J. Burch, Clarence C. Donavant, and <br /> <br /> <br />J. Frank Wilson. <br /> <br />,#.--." <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as read the minutes of its regular <br />meeting held June 28, 1960. <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst presented a list of petitions of record for construction <br /> <br /> <br />(on a shared-cost basis) of curb-and-gutter and sidewalks. Several of these <br /> <br /> <br />petitions, having received Council's approval for inclusion in the 1959-60 <br /> <br /> <br />construction program, received Council's re-approval and priority pending <br /> <br />collection of the property owners I share of the cost. The other petitions <br /> <br /> <br />Council agreed to consider for priority after viewing the streets and <br /> <br /> <br />conditions involved. <br /> <br />The City Planning Commission, through City Manager Hirst, expressed its <br />desire to confer with Council in the near future in connection with <br />preparation of a new zoning code and its relation to and effects on several <br />rezoning petitions now before the Commission as well as its effect upon <br /> <br /> <br />future dElvelopment of property within certain areas of the City. Cmlncil <br /> <br />indicated that it will meet with the Commission at the Commission's <br /> <br />convenience. <br /> <br />Ci ty Minager Hirst noti fied Council of the expiration on August 1, 1960 of the <br /> <br /> <br />City's contract with Mrs. Lucille Andes Weaver involving the City's operation <br /> <br />
