<br />134 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MARC H 8, 1960 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the Cii{y of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor John W. Shultz presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, <br /> <br />CivJ Hall, Tuesday, March 8, 1960, at 6:30 P.M., all members of Council being <br /> <br />present, viz., Mayor and Councilnlan John W. Shultz; Vice-Mayor and Councilman <br /> <br />E. E. Stone; Councilman Thomas J. Burch; Councilman Clarence C. Donavant; ani <br /> <br />Cour:cilman J. Frank .Wilson. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as read the minutes of its regular meeting <br /> <br />held February 2.3, 1960. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on <br /> <br />the LIartinsville Bulletin's request (through Joyce & stone on behalf of Mr. Robert <br /> <br />H. Haskell, Jr., Publisher) that the former M:ary Love Cobb property on Broad Street <br /> <br />adjacent to the Bulletin property be rezored "B-1 Business" for its entire depth. <br /> <br />r;oting that no one registered any objections to said proposed rezoning and that the <br /> <br />Planning Commission on February 9, 1960 recommended granting the request, Council <br /> <br />effected said rezoning by adopting the following ordinance amending the Cityls Zoning <br /> <br />Code and Zoning Map: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED, by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular <br />meeting assembled this eighth day of March, 1960, that the City's Zoning Code <br />and Zoning Map be and is hereby amended to classify as T1B-l Business", for <br />zoning purposes, all that property formerly knmm as the T1Mary Love Cobb property", <br />located on the west side of Broad Street and identified on the City's Tax Map <br />as Lot No. 14, Block M, Page 32 of said Tax Map. <br /> <br />Pursuant to the City School Board's request subITQtted on February 23, 1960, Council <br /> <br />adopted the following resolution approving the applying by the School Board for a loan <br /> <br />of $77 ,000.00 from the Literary Fund of Virginia: <br /> <br />At a Meeting of the Board of Supervisors for the County of <br />or the C ourcil for the City of Martins vi lle , Virginia, held in the said County <br />
