<br />11 <br /> <br />TUESDA Y <br /> <br />JANUARY 12. 1960 <br /> <br />,....-- <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Mlrtinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, was held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, Tuesday, January 12, 1960, <br /> <br />at 6:30 P.M., with the following members being present: Vice-Mayor and Councilman <br /> <br />E. E. Stone, who presided, and Councilmen Clarence C. Donavant and J. Frank Wilson. <br /> <br />Members absent were: Mayor and Councilman John W. Shultz and Councilman Thomas J. <br /> <br />Burch. <br /> <br />,- <br />t <br /> <br />In accordance with duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public <br /> <br />hearing on Mr. Roy C. Stone's petition requesting the rezoning of certain of his <br /> <br />property hereinafter described. There being no objections registered, and in <br /> <br />acceptance of the Planning Commission's recommendation, Council granted the reql1est <br /> <br />~ adopting the following ordinance effecting said rezoning, amending the City's <br /> <br /> <br />Zoning Code and Zoning Map (cross-reference: see Council minutes of May 28, <br /> <br />1957) : <br /> <br />BE IT CRDAlNED ~ the Council of the City of Martinsvi1le, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this twelfth day of January, 1960, that <br />the City's Zoning Code and Zoning Map be and is here~ amended to <br />provide for the rezoning from "A-2 Residential" to "B-1 Business" that <br />property not already so rezoned and owned by Mr. Roy C. Stone within <br />the area bounded by the east side of Memorial Boulevard South, Rivermont <br />Heights, Hillcrest Avenue, and,the City's south corporate limits, or <br />bound,ed by properties (not owned ~ Mr. Roy C. Stone) within the above-described <br />area. <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />(SEE NOTE BElOW) <br /> <br />Attorney Robert H. May, counsel, appeared before Council in behalf of Branscom <br />Poultry Farm at 721 Stultz Road, and requested that Council--in its preparation <br /> <br />of an amendment to the City's "Animal & Fowl" ordinance--exclude any provisions <br /> <br />or regulat:tons as would restrict the present operation of Branecam Poultry Farm, <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Attorney May citing the sanitary measures now in practice at the poultry farm or <br /> <br />hatchery and the lack of cause for objections by anyone. Council oontinued the <br /> <br />proposed ordinance for further study. <br /> <br />NOTE: According to Mr. Irving R. McGhee, C:Hiy 'Iraf'fic & Planning Engineer and Ex:-officio <br />Secretary to the Planning Commission, the above rezoning is not to affect properties <br />owmd by Mr. Roy C. Stone which front on Rivermont Heights and Hillcrest Avenue. <br />The intention is that this rezoning would apply to Mr. Stone's property beginning at <br />the rear lot lines of lots fronting on these tviO streets. <br />
