240 TUESDAY MARCH 24, 1964 The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor J. Frank Wilson presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, Tuesday, March 24, 1964, beginning at 7:30 P.M., and with all members being present, viz., Mayor J. Frank Wilson; Vice-Mayor Fred T. Renick, M.D.; Harry L. Boaz; Thomas J. Burch; and E. E. Stone. After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular meeting held March 10, 1964. By report dated March 24, 1964, the City Planning Commission recommended that Council grant Sale Knitting Company's request--submitted March 10, 1964--for a llB-2 IndustrialH rezoning of its property on and along Roy Street, with the exception (concurred in by Sale Knitting Company) of the north portion of a lot to the rear of privately-owned properties fronting the east side of Roy Street. Council unanimously accepted the Planning Commission's report and recommendation, subject to a duly-advertised public hearing on the rezoning petition, as amended, to be held at Council's next regular meeting scheduled for April 14, 1964. After brief discussion and further consideration, Council unanimously adopted a new Zoning Code (or ordinance) for the City of Martinsville, effective immediately. This code, recorded by reference herein, was the same--with subsequent revisions--as that placed on first reading by Council on October 22, 1963, and on which a duly-advertised public hearing was conducted by Council on November 18, 1963.
