Frank 'Vlilson presiding, i..raS held in the Council Chamber, <br /> <br /> <br />City Hall, Tuesday, April 23, 1963, beginning at 7:30 P.M., ~_l members of <br /> <br /> <br />Council being present, viz., I1ayor J. Frank Wilson; Dr. Fred T. Renick; Hc'l.1'ry L. <br /> <br /> <br />Boaz; Thomas J. Burch; and E. E. Stone. <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council anproved as recorded the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held April 9, 1963. <br /> <br />A proposal--rc commended Anril 9th by Revenue Commissioner J. David Morris--to amend <br /> <br />the City's Business & Occupational License Tax Ordinance by re-defining the term <br /> <br />"Contractors" was continued to Council's next meeting. <br /> <br />Upon being advised that the Ht. Zion A.:H.E. Church has paid the required license <br /> <br /> <br />ta~ of $750.00 imposed upon a carnival operation recently sponsored by the church, <br /> <br /> <br />and in keeping wi th Council's indication of February 12, 196.3, when the church sought <br /> <br /> <br />exoneration of this license tax, COUI1C:U directed that a refund of the license tax of <br /> <br />$750.GO (paid) be made to the church. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />NI'. H. L. CarhlI'ight and other members of a special citizens committee appointed <br />by Council April 9, 1063, to study recreation facility needs, armeared before <br />Council and presented their recommendations regardinc' additional outdoor recren,ti on <br />f,J.cilit-tesi{hich i-lere estimated to cost between tt3,C)OO.00 and ~33, 500.GO; tvhereupon <br /> <br />motion, duly seconded, Council unanimously (and by a recorded vote) appropriated the <br /> <br />sum of $3,500.00 to the capital outlay portion of the Recro:!<tion Dopartmcmt's cu:r-rent <br /> <br />budget, which apDropr iation t,ras dire cted made from proceeds (surplus) from the sale of <br />the Northside Playground property. <br />
