1: HONDAY , FEBRUlffiY 25. 196~ <-- A special and duly-called meeting of the COlIDcil of the City of Martinsville, V:trginia, I'lith Mayor J. Frank Hilson presiding, lIaS held in the Council Chamber, City Hall, Monday, February 25, 1963, beginning at 1 :00 P.N., for the purpose of receiving and considering a petition from the G. C. SaL'TIons Estate requesting the rezoning of a portion of the petitioner's property--ncar the City's east corporate limi t--from "A-2 Rr::sidential" to "B-2 Business". All members of Council, ~ \.,rith the exception of Dr. Fred T. Renick, 'Here present, viz., Hayer J. Frank Wilson; Harry L. Boaz; Thomas J. Burch; and E. E. Stone. Salmons Estate, own the re!'lainder of a 23 acre tract of land 1,lhich lies on the south side of Route 58 east and formerl;y' fronted Same from I'There a fork of 1,:u1berry Creek crosses Route 58 to the east corporate lirdts of the City. This i'rontage has been subdi'rided and sold off leaving us approximately 16 acres. Approximately six of this remaining acreage lies in Henry County, leaving us 10 acre:::, mo~~o or less, lying inside the City. He, at tlcis ti.'TIC, are interested in development of this property for industrie.l purnoses, and rc;:;pectfully request th:lt you [Jive your enrliest cOl1siderDtion to the rezoning of tIns reill<J.ining acreage from its present A-2 Hosidcmtia 1 classification to a B-2 Industrial classification, in order that the pronerty might be used for this purpose. Should it be found necessary to do so, we are willing to dedicate, from nroperty which He now 01m, a 60-foot vTide right-of-vray and turn around area from tho end of Cabell Street to such development as might occur on the property 1,18 DrO!)OSe for rezoning.
