<br />BO~ <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JUNE 6, 1968 <br /> <br />A special and duly-called meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, for the purpose of considering the City Manager1s recommended <br /> <br />City budget for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1969, was held Thursday, <br /> <br />June 6, 1968, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 11:00 A.M. <br /> <br />All members of Council were present, viz., Dr. F. T. Renick, Mayor; E. E. <br /> <br />Stone, Vice-Mayor; Harry L. Boaz; W. Donald Hartford; and Francis T. West. <br /> <br />After the invocation, City Manager Noland presented his proposed budget <br /> <br />which incorporated certain revisions to reflect recent actions of Council, <br /> <br />i.e., a reduction in local business-and-professional license tax rates <br /> <br />(effective May 1, 1969), a reduction in appropriation requests, and an <br /> <br />increase in estimated revenue from the sale of an Inoustrial Park tract. <br /> <br />as presented, the budget was balanced and representes no taxation or service <br /> <br />charge increases, the total estimated income and appropriations being <br /> <br />$7,967,368.51 which Council unanimously approved, subject to a duly-advertised <br /> <br />public hearing on the budget scheduled for Tuesday, June 18, 1968, at 7:30 P.M., <br /> <br />in the Council Chamber. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br />l~~. <br />w.
