<br />18~ <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JULY 11, 1967 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor Fred T. Renick, M.D., presiding, was held Tuesday, July 11, <br /> <br />1967, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members <br /> <br />being present, viz., Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D.; Vice-Mayor E. E. Stone; Harry L. <br /> <br />Boaz; W. Donald Hartford; and Francis T. West. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held .June 27, 1967. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing <br /> <br />on Mr. William S. Coleman's April 11th petition requesting the rezoning of <br /> <br />certain of his property located on the north side of Fayette Street, west of <br /> <br />North Moss Street. There being no objections registered to this proposed or <br /> <br />requested rezoning, and having received the Planning Commission's recommendation <br /> <br />on .June 13th that all of Mr. Coleman's property in this area be rezoned to <br /> <br />"M_2 Industrial", Council adopted the following ordinance effecting this rezoning <br /> <br />and amending the City's Zoning Code and Map: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this eleventh day of .July, 1967, that <br />the City's Zoning Code and Zoning Map be, and are hereby, amended to <br />reclassify--for zoning purposes--to "M-2 Industrial" all that <br />property owned by Mr. William S. Coleman on the north side of Fayette <br />Street, beginning at a point approximately 107t feet west of North <br />Moss Street and extending along said north side of Fayette Street <br />west for a distance of approximately 161 feet, said "M-2 Industrial" <br />zoning to apply to full depth of said property which abuts the <br />southwest rear boundaries of a tier of lots fronting on George Street. <br /> <br />Pursuant to Council's June 27th request, City Manager Noland and Public Works <br /> <br />Director George W. Brown presented a comparison of present connection fees <br /> <br />charged by the City for standard water and sewer connections, along with the <br /> <br />present street-cut fee, compared with present-day costs incurred by the City <br /> <br />in making such connections. In addition, cost figures were submitted for the <br /> <br />construction of a typical eight-inch sewer collector line (six feet deep), <br />
