<br />H <br /> <br />THURSDAY <br /> <br />MARCH 24, 1966 <br /> <br />A special and duly-called meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />,,- <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor J. Frank Wilson presiding, was held Thursday, March 24, <br /> <br />1966, at 5:30 P.M., in the Council Chamber, City Hall, for the purpose of <br /> <br />considering further action--or acting--upon the ItSchool Bond" ordinance placed <br /> <br />on first reading February 22, 1966. All members of Council, with the exception <br /> <br />of Councilman Thomas J. Burch (who was out of town), were present, viz., Mayor <br /> <br />J. Frank Wilson; Vice-Mayor Fred T. Renick, M.D.; Harry L. Boaz; and E. E. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Stone. <br /> <br />After the invocation and the stating of the plrrpose of this special meeting, <br /> <br />Council unanimously (of those members present) adopted said School Bond Ordinance <br /> <br />(as placed on first reading February 22, 1966), calling for a referendum or <br /> <br />special election thereon to be held Tuesday, April 19, 1966, on the following <br /> <br />question: <br /> <br />"Shall the City of Martinsville issue its negotiable bonds in the aggregate <br />principal amount of $3,000,000, to finance the cost of constructing and <br />equipping a new senior high school on North Side Drive, and providing the <br />necessary access, grading, drainage, landscaping, utilities and architectural <br />services; and the cost of constructing and equipping a vocational shop and <br />facilities at the Albert Harris High School and providing the necessary <br />access, grading, drainage, landscaping, utilities and architectural <br />services; and the cost of constructing and equipping an addition to the <br />shop on Brown Street and providing the necessary access, grading, drainage, <br />landscaping, utilities and architectural services; and the cost of providing <br />a limited amount of remodeling at the present Martinsville High School <br />buildings, located on Cleveland Avenue and Brown Street, in order to convert <br />these facilities for use as a junior high school, such bonds to bear interest <br />at a rate not exceedir-g six per cent (6%) per annum and to mature within a <br />period of not more than thirty (30) years beginning with the date of said <br />bonds in such annual installments as the Council of said City may determine <br />in accordance with Law?" <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />aman, Clerk of Council <br />
