28 TUESDAY DECEMBER~ 1971 The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D., presiding, was held Tuesday, December 14, 1971, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members being present, viz., Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D.; Vice-Mayor Francis T. West; Harry L. Boaz; W. Donald Hartford; and William D. Hobson. - After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular meeting held November 23, 1971. Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on the J. T. Weaver property rezoning petition, as amended and as approved by the Planning Commission, involving property identified as Lot No. 8 at the northwest corner of Longview and Liberty Streets. There being no objection registered by anyone to the proposed rezoning, Council unanimously adopted the following ordinance effecting sid rezoning and amending the City's Zoning Code and Map: BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in regular meeting assembled this fourteenth day of December, 1971, that the Zoning Code and the Zoning Map of the City of Martinsville be--and are hereby--amended to reclassify to "C-l Corrnnercial" that certain one lot owned by Mr. J. T. Weaver and identified as Lot No. 8, situated adjacent to and north of Longview Street at its inter- section with Liberty Street, near the north corporate limits of the City of Martinsville. Continuing consideration from its November 23rd meeting of information presented by Commissioner of the Revenue D. B. Hanel, regarding the necessity of establishing a real estate tax rate for the calendar year 1972 to accommodate the proposed "split" or semi-annual billing of real estate taxes, and after hearing from City Treasurer John W. Bouldin, Jr., as to several alternatives pertaining to interest rates on delinquent taxes, as well as from several citizens
