;) '~ (') '""' ~) THURSDAY JUL Y 1, 1971 A special and duly called meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, pursuant to notice issued June 25, 1971 under Section 5(a) of Chapter 2 of the Charter of the City of Martinsville, was held Thursday, July 1, 1971, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 12 o'clock noon, for the purpose of introducing and considering an ordinance providing for the adopting of a revision and codification of the ordinances of the City of Martinsville, which ordinance is entitled, "THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MARTINS- VILLE, VIRGINIA, 1971", and for the purpose of considering and/or establishing the price at which each copy of said code shall be sold. All members of Council were present, viz., Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D., presiding; Vice-Mayor Francis T. West; Harry L. Boaz; W. Donald Hartford; and William D. Hobson. After the invocation, City Attorney Cubine presented the ordinance referred to hereinabove and, also, commented upon the new City Code and its format, following which--upon motion, duly seconded--Council unanimously adopted said ordinance, as follows: AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A REVISION AND CODIFICATION OF THE ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF MARTINSVILLE, VIRGINIA, ENTITLED "THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MARTINSVILLE, VIRGINIA, 1971" PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF CERTAIN ORDINANCES NOT INCLUDED THEREIN, WITH CERTAIN EXCEPTIONS, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES HEREINAFTER SET OUT. BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia: SECTION I. There is hereby adopted by the City Council that certain Code entitled "The Code of Mal:'tinsville, Virginia, 1971" containing certain ordinances of a general and permanent nature as compiled, consolidated, codified and indexed in Chapters 1 to 17, both inclusive, of which Code not less than three copies have been and are now filed in the office of the Clerk of Council.
