<br />1 <br />..M. t <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />OCTOBER 27, 1970 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D., presiding, was held Tuesday, October <br /> <br />27, 1970, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all <br /> <br />members being present--with the exception of Vice-Mayor Francis T. West--as <br /> <br />follows: Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D.; Harry L. Boaz; W. Donald Hartford; and <br /> <br />William D. Hobson. <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held October 13, 1970. <br /> <br />In concluding the transaction approved by Council during its regular meeting <br /> <br />held July l4, 1970, providing for the exchange of property by and between <br /> <br />the City and the Frith interests (represented by Mr. J. B. Frith, of Frith <br /> <br />Construction Company), Council authorized City Manager Noland to execute--on <br /> <br />behalf of the City--a deed from the City, dated July 23, 1970, conveying to <br /> <br />Ray D. Frith and Violet T. Frith (husband and wife) and J. B. Frith and Mary <br /> <br />K. N. Frith (husband and wife) a tract of land consisting of approximately 29.93 <br /> <br />acres (this tract having been purchased by the City from the Hedgecock interests <br /> <br />initially as a site for the City's sewage disposal plant) in exchange for a <br /> <br />tract of land consisting of approximately 46.8 acres, situated in the Jones <br /> <br />Creek area (Martinsville District), conveyed by the Friths by deed dated July 23, <br /> <br />1970, and for the further consideration of the sum of $24,000.00 payable by the <br /> <br />Friths unto the City, evidenced by two promissory notes of $12,000.00 each, the <br /> <br />first note being due July 23, 1971 and the second note being due July 23, 1972, <br /> <br />each note bearing interest at the rate of five per cent per annum until paid. <br />
