<br />q ,', <br />""~ 'o.j <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MARCH 27, 1973 <br /> <br />The Mayor and the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, met in <br /> <br />regular session at the Council Chamber of said City at 7:30 o'clock, P.M., <br /> <br />on the twenty-seventh day of March, 1973. <br /> <br />Mayor Francis T. West presided and called the meeting to order, followed <br /> <br />by the invocation, after which the minutes of Council's regular meeting <br /> <br />held March 13, 1973, were approved as read. The following members, <br /> <br />constituting a quorum, on roll call, were present: Mayor Francis T. West; <br /> <br />Vice-Mayor Harry L. Boaz; and Councilmen W. Donald Hartford, William D. Hobson, <br /> <br />and Morton W. Lester. (Absent: none). <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a Public Hearing <br /> <br />on the petition (as amended) of Mr. Martin J. Lester, President of Forest <br /> <br />Haven Estates, Inc., requesting the rezoning to "P-2" of petitioner's property <br /> <br />at 318 Starling Avenue, as recommended by the Planning Commission. There being <br /> <br />no objections registered to this proposed rezoning, Council unanimously <br /> <br />effected said rezoning by its adoption of the following ordinance amending <br /> <br />the City's Zoning Map: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled this twenty-seventh day of March, 1973, <br />that the City's Zoning Code and Zoning Map be--and are hereby--amended <br />so as to effect a "P-2 Professional" for that property located at <br />318 Starling Avenue, for and on behalf of Mr. Martin J. Lester, <br />President of Forest Haven Estates. <br /> <br />Among other things had and done at said meeting the Mayor announced that further <br /> <br />consideration of Ordinance No. F-2 first passed at the City Council's regular <br /> <br />meeting of March 13, 1973, consenting to and approving the sale and assignment <br /> <br />of the telephone franchise through a merger of the Companies from Lee Telephone <br /> <br />Company, to Virginia Telephone & Telegraph Company was in order. <br />
