<br />88 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />SEPTEMBER 2, 1975 <br /> <br />Pursuant to directive from Martinsville City Council's regular meeting held <br /> <br />August 26, 1975, a special and duly-convened meeting of the Council of the <br /> <br />City of Martinsvil1e, Virginia was held Tuesday, September 2, 1975, on property <br /> <br />owned by Nationwide Homes, Inc., situated on the south side of Rives Road at <br /> <br />its intersection with Drewry Road, for which property Nationwide Homes has <br /> <br />requested an "M-3 Industrial" zoning and on which request the City Council <br /> <br />conducted a duly-advertised public hearing at said meeting held August 26, 1975. <br /> <br />All members of Council were present, viz., Harry L. Boaz, Mayor; William D. <br /> <br />Hobson, Vice Mayor; Morton W. Lester; G. S. Fitz-Hugh, Jr.; and Barry A. Greene. <br /> <br />Also present were members of the Martinsville Planning Commission, representatives <br /> <br />of petitioner as well as of those property owners opposing the requested rezoning, <br /> <br />representatives of the local news media, and other interested citizens. The <br /> <br />purpose of this meeting, as stated in minutes of Council's August 26th meeting, <br /> <br />was to conduct an on-site view of Nationwide Homes' property at this location, <br /> <br />to review with petitioner the plans for development thereof as well as relate <br /> <br />same to the physical surroundings and the objections thereto registered. <br /> <br />Upon completing the visual inspection of said property and discussing related <br /> <br />matters with interested parties, Council indicated that it would continue its <br /> <br />consideration of the request for rezoning at its forthcoming September 9th <br /> <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Council adjourned at 4:35 P.M. <br /> <br />, ~\ r:"_> '. ._ <br />W.
