Roop <br /> <br />Pledge to the American flag <br /> <br />I. Consider approval of the minutes of City Council's meetings of May 5, 6 and <br /> June 8, 2004. (See Enclosures #l-a, #1-b and #l-c) <br /> <br />II. Recognition of Dr. Ira Trollinger, Retiring City School Board Superintendent. <br /> (See Enclosure #2) <br /> <br />III. Recognition of City employees receiving Service Awards from April to June 2004. <br /> (See Enclosure #3) <br /> <br />COMMENTS: These employees will not be at the meeting, but the Mayor will <br />read the list. <br /> <br />IV. Recognition of Nominees for the 2004 Second-Quarter Service Excellence Award <br /> and announcement of Quarterly Winner. (See Enclosure #4) <br /> <br />COMMENTS: These employees have been invited to the meeting. <br /> <br />V. Conduct the Neighborhood Focus Meeting - Westside area. (See Enclosure #5) <br /> <br />VI. Consider adoption of a Resolution declaring the Martinsville Fire & EMS <br /> Department at 65 West Church Street the official location for all Flag Day <br /> ceremonies in the future. (See Enclosure #6) <br /> <br />VII. Consider making an appointment to the Martinsville School Board for one <br /> interim position for the duration of Joseph E. Finley's leave of absence. <br /> <br />COMMENTS.'. During the Public Hearing conducted by Council on June 8th <br />there were five names submitted for this position--Craig Dietrich, Bernie F. <br />Gray, Jr., Jay Judkins, Kathy Lawson and Toy Cobbe. Eric Monday, City <br />Attorney, has advised that according to State Code §22.1-30, no family member <br />of the governing body of a city, during his/her term of office, can be appointed to <br />the school board for such city. Therefore, Toy Cobbe is ineligible for <br />appointment. <br /> <br /> <br />
