AGENDA CITY COUNCIL NEIGHBORHOOD TOWN MEETING CITY OF MARTINSVILLE, VIRGINIA PATRICK HENRY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL 1810 Church Street Extension Tuesday, January 22, 2002 7:00 P.M. Reception/Informational Session 7:30 P.M. Town Meeting Invocation - Council Member J. Ronald Ferrill I. Consider approval of the minutes of City Council's meetings of December 3, 2001 and January 8, 2002. (See Enclosures #1-a and #l-b) II. Conduct the Town Meeting. (See Enclosure #2) III. Consider adoption of a Resolution requesting the Virginia Department of Transportation to convey residue parcels associated with the Spruce Street Extension Project #0650-044-196, C501; 0650-120-101, C501. (See Enclosure #3) COMMENTS: As you will note from Chris Morris' memo, property owners along a section of Spruce Street Extension have requested the City to obtain excess property from VDOT and convey the same to them. We recommend that Council adopt a Resolution requesting this property from VDOT. IV. Consider adoption of a Resolution requesting the Virginia Department of Transportation to add eligible lane mileage for CollectOr/Local street maintenance payments to the City. (See Enclosure #4) COMMENTS: As you will note from Leon Towarnicki's memo, since the extension of Independence Drive to Fishel Street recently, there is a need to update our eligible lane miles for the State's calculation of street maintenance payments to the City. We recommend that Council adopt this Resolution as prepared. Consider adoption of a Resolution approving the City's participation in the West piedmont Disability Services Board and authorizing the City Manager to execute the necessary documents. (See Enclosure #5) COMMENTS: Council was briefed on this issue at your January 10m Work Session. We recommend that Council adopt the Resolution as prepared and authorize the City Manager to execute the necessary documents.
