The basic Charter was enacted by Chapter 193 of the 1950 Acts of the General <br />Assembly. Amendments through 1970 were incorporated in the Charter, as set out in the <br />1971 City Code. Subsequent amendments have been added by the editor of this Code. All <br />amendments are indicated by history notes appearing in parentheses ( ) following the amended <br />section. The absence of such a note indicates that the section is derived, unamended, from <br />Acts 1950, Chapter 193. <br /> Catchlines have been changed in several instances and a uniform system of capitalization <br />has been used.
