Roop. <br />vacation. <br /> <br />A regular, semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, was held on August 10, 1999, in the CounciiChamber, City Hall, beginning at <br />M., with Vice Mayor Gene Teague presiding. Council Members present <br /> <br /> M. Gene Teague, Vice Mayor; and Council Members Bruce H. T~ Dallas, <br /> <br /> Mayor Mark A: Crabtree was absent due to <br /> <br />Following delivery of the invocation by Vice Mayor Teague, he welcomed all to <br />the meeting. <br /> <br /> Council first considered business from ,the floor. Elaine Hedrick, of 108 Park <br />Street, stated that a successful ',block party' was held on August 3, 1999. She thanked <br />Council Members for their dedication to the Southside area. Vice Mayor Teague <br />responded, "Thank you for bringing matters; to Council." <br /> <br /> Thelma Pinkard, of 208 Park Street, thanked Planning, Housing, and Zoning <br />Manager Wayne D. P. Knox and all Council Members for their hard work in the <br />Community Development Block Grant for the Southside area, recently awarded by the <br />Commonwealth of Virginia. <br /> <br /> Louise Prunty, of 202 ¼ Holt Street, invited all to the Holt Street/Barton Street <br />Open House on Saturday, August 14, 1999, beginning at 1:00 P. M. <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor Teague opened the Public Hearing regarding the disposition of real <br /> property (Parcel 1 in the Clearview Business Park) to and participation in the Virginia <br /> Shell Building Initiative by the Martinsville Industrial Development Authority. Thomas <br /> Harned, Assistant to .the City Manager for Development, stated that o,wnership of parcel <br /> 1 needs to be transferred from the City to the IDA; a De~d"o~'Ti:ust' iS.' r~quired for the <br /> <br /> <br />
