<br />426 <br /> <br />TUESJAY <br /> <br />FEBHUARY 14, 1956 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br /> <br /> <br />Virginia, vrith Mayor R. S. Hodnett presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, <br /> <br /> <br />City Hall, on Tuesday, February 14, 19.56, at 7 :30 P.U., all members bring present, <br /> <br /> <br />as follows: Mayor and CouncilmanR. S. Hodnett; Vice-Mayor and Councilman C. P. <br /> <br /> <br />Craig; and Councilmen B. H. Hill, W. T. Turner, and J. R. Walker. <br /> <br />After the invocation, given by Vice-Mayor Craig, various Boy Scouts who served <br /> <br />in official capacities during the day (during Boy Scout Government Day) were <br />introduced. <br /> <br />Minutes of the regular Council meeting held January 24, 1956 were approved as read. <br /> <br />In accepting City Manager Mathewson's recommendations concerning the proposed <br /> <br />Police-Fire Headquarters Building, as published February 4, 1956, Council <br /> <br />unanimously voted to postpone action on the project and, in so doing, Council <br /> <br />unanimously wi thdrevl the ordinance calling for a bond election on this project, <br /> <br />which ordinanc e was placed on first reading January 10, 1956. <br /> <br />By a recorded vote, which vms unanimous, Council adopted the ordinance placed on <br /> <br />first reading December D, 195.5 calling for an election on Barch 15, 1956 to <br /> <br />determine whether the City may issue $1,4.50,000 in general obligation bonds to <br /> <br />finance the cost of construet:ing certain school buildings and addition as <br /> <br />designated in s aid ordinance. <br /> <br />In connection vdth the School bond election and the providing for debt service On <br /> <br />said bonds, Council issued the following statement "'lith certain reservations <br />
