S. Hodnett presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, <br /> <br />City Hall, on Tuesday, July 24, 1956, at 7:30 P.M. and with all members present, <br /> <br />as follows: Mayor and Councilman R. S. Hodnett; Vice-Mayor and Councilman C. P. <br /> <br />Craig; and Councilmen B. H. Hill, W. T. Turner, an.d J. R. l'Jalker. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Counc il approved as read t.he minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held July 10, 1956 and, also, of its special budget hearing meeting <br /> <br />held July 13, 1956. <br /> <br />Upon reconnendation of City lianager Hirst, Council authorized the widening <br /> <br />of a portion of FrarJdin street (from Liberty street-Jones street-Franklin <br /> <br />~2.' <br />:.'_ r~ <br />:II~~ <br />Ii <br />. =- <br /> <br />street intersection) for approximately 180 feet North under terms and conditions <br /> <br />of agreements of 1937 and 1953 va th Lester Lumber Company. Whittle and others and under such necessCL.7 and subsequent agreements <br /> <br />as are approved by City Attar'ney stone. <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst then presented a report on the st2..tus of the City's curb-and- <br /> <br />gutter and sid81l1falk program, noting that seven projects with a total of 14,033 <br /> <br />feet of curb-and-gutter I'rere completed during the fiscal ;year ended June 30, 1956 <br /> <br />and that including ~ork under construction arn/or selected there are requests <br /> <br />for 32,426 linear feet pendiLg, as compared with 18,000 linear feet allocated <br /> <br />in tre 1956-57 budget. In order to prepare the 1956-57 work schedule, Council <br /> <br />suggested that those petitions which meet the City IS requirements and satisfy <br /> <br />its formula for such work be given the opportunity to participate in the program <br />
