<br />52 <br /> <br />FRIDAY <br /> <br />JULY D, 1956 <br /> <br />A special and duly-advertised meeting of Martinsville City Council, with <br /> <br />Mayor R. S. Hodnett presiding, was held in the Council Char.lbcr, City Hall, <br /> <br />on Friday, July 13, 1956, at 7:30 P.M., vlith all members present, as <br /> <br />follows: Mayor and Councilmac'i R. S. Hodnett; Vice-Mayor Clnd Councilman <br /> <br />C. P. Craig; and Councilmen B. E. Hill, W. T. Turner, and J. R. Walker. <br /> <br />The purpose of' -;:,his meeting, as so publicly stated and advertised, was <br /> <br />to conduct a public hearing, as required by law, on the proposed 1956-57 <br /> <br />City Budget, which puC'pose was stated by Mayor Hodnett in calling the <br /> <br />meeting to order. <br /> <br />After giving the opportunity to anyone present to be heard on any item <br /> <br />pertaining to the proposed budget--there being no one requesting to be heard- <br /> <br />Council, upon motion by Councilman Walker ano seconded by Councilman Turrer, <br /> <br />by a recorded vote unanimously adopted the proposed budget and appropriation <br /> <br />ordinance as placed on first reading June 26, 1956, with the understanding that <br /> <br />City r.lanager Hirst would make a study and report thereon at the earliest possible <br /> <br />date of all proposed travel experne and transportation expense i terns in the <br /> <br />budget. <br /> <br />Coune il was adjourned. <br /> <br />~~CTcrK <br /> <br />~ <br />of Council <br /> <br />-., <br /> <br />" <br />
