<br />I'" <br />4 <br /> <br />SEPTEMBER 17, 1959 <br /> <br />THURSDAY <br /> <br />A special meeting of IvIartinsville City Council, duly called by Mayor Shultz and <br /> <br />City Manager Hirst in accordance with charter requirenents, was held in the Council <br /> <br />Chamber, City Hall, Tnursday, September 17, 1959, at 6:30 P.M., all members being <br /> <br />present, as follows: Mayor and Council1lan John W. Shultz, presiding; Vice-Mayor <br /> <br />and Councilman E. E. Stone; and Councilmen Thomas J. Burch, Clarence C. Donavant, <br /> <br />and J. Frank Wilson. <br /> <br />/- <br /> <br />After the invocation, Mayor Shultz stated the purpose of this special meeting, which <br /> <br />was to cons ider the i terns of business here inafter c overed by these minutes. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council placed upon second <br /> <br />reading the gas utility franchise ordinance as placed on first reading September <br /> <br />8, 1959. <br /> <br />Council received but deferred action, until its September 29th meeting, on 1960 <br /> <br />salary and expense requests submitted by the City Treasurer, City Sergeant, City <br /> <br />Commissioner of t..1-J.e Revenue, and the City Commonwealth's Attorrey. <br /> <br />"'.-..- <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of City Manager Hirst, Council authorized the constructing-- <br /> <br />at an estimated cos t to the City of $1,700.00 for which funds were appropriated <br /> <br />in the City's 1959-60 budget--of a new sewer line as an extension and relocation <br /> <br />of the present collector line serving the north and nortmvest sides of the down- <br /> <br />town business area. This line would be laid in ditches opened by Lester Lumber <br /> <br />Comuany in con.l1ection with their present grading and construction operations in <br /> <br />the area northwest of their present Liberty HeiiVlts Swirmning Pool and Liberty <br /> <br />Street plant and would run to a point to connect to the proposed Jones Creek <br /> <br />Interceptor Line as a part of the proposed sewerage system improvements program. <br />
