<br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JillJE 16. 1959 <br /> <br />A special and duly-called meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, with Mayor John W. Shultz presiding, was held in the Council Chamber, <br />City Hall, Tuesday, June 16, 1959, at 6:30 P.11., for the purpose of receiving <br />City Manager Hirst's recommended City Budget for infe>rImtional and fiscal <br />planning puI1I1oses for the City's fiscal year beginning July 1, 1959, and for <br /> <br />the purpose of considering such other business matters as may properly be <br /> <br />brought before the Couneil. All members of Council were present, viz., Mayor <br /> <br />and Councilman John W. Shultz; Vice-Mayor and Councilman E. E. Stone; and <br /> <br />Councilmen Thomas J. Burch and Clarence C. Donavant. <br /> <br />After the invocation and roll call, Mayor Shultz stated the purposes of the <br /> <br />meeting, as hereinbefore outlined. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Cm.Ulcil appointed <br /> <br />Mrs. Anne F. Zachary and Mr-. Frank D. Fulton to membership on the Human <br /> <br />Values Connilission to fill the unexpired terms of Mr. D. Hurd Goode and <br /> <br />Dr. T. H. Dickerson, respectively, resigned, whose terms would end January <br />31, 1960 and January 31, 1962, respectively. <br /> <br />Council received and called for a Public Hearing to be conducted at COltncil's <br /> <br />July 14th (1959) meeting on the follOlving June 16th report and recommendation <br /> <br />of the Planning Commission regarding the rezoning petition recently submitted <br />by "Fifteen Cleveland Avenue, Inc. n: <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />Your Planning Commission, at its meeting today, June 16, 1959, held a <br />public hearing on a petition referred to them by Council requestL~g the <br />rezoning of No. 15 Cleveland Avenue from A-1 Residential to B-1 Business. <br />After due consideration of this petition, following the public hearL'1g, <br />it was the unanimous decision of the Commission that the following recom- <br />mendation be made to Council: <br /> <br />That the petition, as presented, be approved; That the property in <br />question be rezoned from A-1 Residential to B-1 Business. <br /> <br />~~~ ~o^^~onAo+;~n ;~ ~nA ~n~ ~np ~nl'nYi~~ rA~SO~~: <br />
