<br />'.>1.)(1 <br />?)dO <br /> <br />MONDAY <br /> <br />SEPTEMBER 2, 1968 <br /> <br />Pursuant to Section 5(a) of the Charter of the City of Martinsville, an <br /> <br />organizational meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville was held <br /> <br />Monday, September 2, 1968, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, at 9:00 A.M., <br /> <br />with all members of said Council being present, viz., Messrs. W. Donald <br /> <br />Hartford; Francis T. West; Harry L. Boaz; William D. Hobson; and Fred T. Renick, <br /> <br />M.D. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Mr. Jesse D. Clift, Clerk of the City's Corporation <br /> <br />Court, administered the oath of office to the members of Council elected <br /> <br />(election of June, 1968) to four-year terms beginning September 1, 1968, <br /> <br />viz., Messrs. Harry L. Boaz; William D. Hobson; and Fred T. Renick, M.D., <br /> <br />after which Mr. Clift served as temporary presiding officer to entertain <br /> <br />nominations for the office of Mayor and to call for a vote thereon. After <br /> <br />receiving the nomination for the re-election of Dr. Fred T. Renick as Mayor, <br /> <br />and there being no other nominations, Dr. Renick was duly elected and <br /> <br />unanimously acclaimed Mayor for a two-year term beginning September 1, 1968, <br /> <br />and, as Mayor, subscribed to the prescribed oath of office. <br /> <br />Mayor Renick then entertained nominations for the office of Vice-Mayor, <br /> <br />whereupon Councilman Francis T. West was nominated for this office and, <br /> <br />there being no other nominations for this office, was duly elected and acclaimed <br /> <br />Vice-Mayor, also for a two-year term beginning September 1, 1968. <br /> <br />Council then unanimously reappointed Mr. Irvin W.
