1 ,~ ')
-.J ...J

THURSDAY

JULY 30, 1970

Pursuant to its agreement from its July 28th meeting, the Council of the

City of Martinsville convened for an adjourned session of said July 28th

meeting in the Council Chamber, City, Hall, Thursday, July 30, 1970, at

4:00 P.M., to consider supplemental information developed by City Manager

Noland on the need and availability of additional school busses. Members

present were: Vice-Mayor Francis T. West; Harry L. Boaz; and William D.

Hobson (Mayor Renick and Councilman Hartford both being out of town).

City Manager Noland informed Council that delivery of two 54-passenger

school busses, at a total cost of $13,032.74, can be made in immediate

future if order is placed therefor forthwith and that, with temporary

usage of certain other available busses, the estimated need for student

transportation the forthcoming school year can be met or will provide

time for additional study more accurately to ascertain future needs. City

Manager Noland, in recommending the placing of an order for the two new busses,

also recommended that the question of financing the cost of the new busses

be continued, pending determination by the Federal Government as to whether

reserve funds held by City Transit Company, Inc., can be used for this

purpose. Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council accepted

the Manager's recommendations and authorized the placing of an order for two

new 54-passenger busses.

At the request of Mr. G. C. Salmons, petitioner, Council rescheduled to its

forthcoming September 8th meeting the duly-advertised public hearing on

petitioner's requested rezoning of his property--referred to in Council's

July 28th minutes--and the application for a special-use permit to allow

petitioner to develop said property as Mobile Home Court.

Council was adjourned.

.....

Clerk of Council
