T. Renick, M.D., presiding, was held Tuesday,

October 28, 1969, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M.,

all members being present, viz., Mayor F. T. Renick, M.D.; Francis T. West,

Vice-Mayor; Harry L. Boaz; W. Donald Hartford; and William D. Hobson.

After the invocation, Council approved as recorded the minutes of its

regular meeting held October 14, 1969 and of its special meeting held

October 22, 1969.

In connection with the required forthcoming (1970) quadrennial reassessment

of taxable real estate in the City of Martinsville, Council unanimously

nominated Messrs. R. A. Henderson, Jr., and J. Ernest Jones to the Honorable

Frank I. Richardson, Jr., Judge of Martinsville Corporation Court, for his

consideration in appointing a Board of Assessors for said reassessment.

By petition dated October 24, 1969, Mr. James I. Barnes requested permission

to connect his premises, located on the south side of duPont Road (outside

the City's corporate limits, approximately two hundred yards from Memorial

Boulevard South) to the City's existing water and sewer lines. Council

referred this request to the Planning Commission for its consideration and

recommendation.

After considering the following bids recently received for the construction

of approximately 5,600 feet of sixteen-inch water line in the Jones Creek-

Northside Drive area, Council unanimously awarded contract to Laramore

Construction Company, being the lowest bidder:

..,...--------...."-..-.'"--.--.
