<br />--- <br /> <br />r l\ r <br />~\J <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JUNE 22, 1976 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsvi11e, <br /> <br />Virginia, with Mayor Harry L. Boaz presiding, was held Tuesday, June 22, 1976, <br /> <br />in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members being <br /> <br />present, viz., Harry L. Boaz, Mayor; William D. Hobson, Vice Mayor; <br /> <br />G. S. Fitz-Hugh, Jr.; Barry A. Greene; and Morton W. Lester. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved--as recorded--the minutes of its regular <br /> <br />meeting held June 8, 1976 and of its special meeting held June 14, 1976. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, the Council and the Planning <br /> <br />Commission conducted a public hearing on an application for a Special-Use Permit <br /> <br />recently filed by area Jaycee organizations, seeking permission to sponsor an <br /> <br />"Old Fashioned July 4th Celebration" at Liberty Heights Fairgrounds on Sunday <br /> <br />afternoon, July 4, 1976 in connection with the national bicentennial. Upon <br /> <br />recommendation of the Planning Commission, and there being no objections <br /> <br />registered by anyone, Council approved said application and granted said permit, <br /> <br />subject to compliance by the sponsors of applicable health and safety regulations. <br /> <br />Also, pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public <br /> <br />hearing on a proposed 1976-77 City Budget, as recently presented by City Manager <br /> <br />Noland in the total sum of $16,027,612.00, with City Manager Noland pointing out <br /> <br />certain adjustments and/or revisions thereto in accordance with Council's prior <br /> <br />decisions and noting that the revised budget anticipates no increase in local taxes <br /> <br />imposed.
