2i0 <br /> <br />August11-12,2000 <br /> <br /> Mr. Blackman asked, "What are the concerns of institutions?" Council Member <br />Ferrill replied, "Ability to raise funds." Vice Mayor Teague replied, "Workforce issues." <br /> <br /> Mr. Blackman asked, "What are the concerns of the region?" Council Member <br />Roop replied, "Everybody's trying to do their own thing." ; <br /> <br /> Mr. Blackman stated, "1 heard the following concerns from you: EconOmic <br />development, County [of Henry] relationship, local government management audit, level <br />of service, regional involvement, and coordination, corporation, and collaboration." <br /> <br /> Mr. Blackman asked, "What are your priorities?" Mayor Crabtree replied, <br />"Education and jobs." Vice Mayor Teague replied, "Good stewards of money." CoUncil <br />Member Roop replied, "Economic development." Council Member Ferrill replied, <br />"Economic wail-being." <br /> <br /> The following strategic planning objectives were set: Council annual planning <br />event, strategic update evaluation, work sessions will took at priorities, staff action plans <br />address Council goals/priorities, and School Board/Council planning event. <br /> <br /> Mr. Blackman asked, "What do you want to do with economic development?" <br />Mayor Crabtree replied, "Aggressively develop the economic base of the City of <br />Madinsville--residential, industrial, commercial. The County didn't fully fund the PHDC <br />(Patrick Henry Development Council)." Vice Mayor Teague replied, "Adopt a regional <br />approach. We need to continue with the PHDC but be prepared for alternatives. Ini the <br />past four years, we've done more than support it." <br /> <br /> Council recessed at 3:45 P. M., until the following day. <br /> <br /> <br />
