Thursday, Auuust 10, 2000 <br /> <br /> A strategic planning retreat of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, was held on <br />August 10-12, 2000 in the Board and Conference Rooms of Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and <br />Henry County, beginning at 5:30 pro. Council Members present included: Dr. Mark A. Crabtree, <br />Mayor; M. Gene Teague, Vice-Mayor; Bruce H.T. Dallas, J. Ronald Ferdll, and Terry L. Roop. <br />R. David Blackmart, President ofBlackman & Associates, and Robert J. O'Neill, President of the <br />National Academy of public Administration were also present. <br /> <br /> After dinner, Mayor Crabtree introduced Robert O'Neill who spoke to the Council about the <br /> importance of being prepared for goveming in the new Millennium. Afterwards Dave Blackman <br /> gave an overview of the strategic planning session activities for the remainder of the two-day <br /> session. <br /> <br /> Earl B.
