July 25, 2000 <br /> <br />Council considered the need to meet in Closed Session. In accordance with <br /> <br />Section 2.1-344 (A) of the Code of Vir.qinia (1950, and as amended) and upon motion <br /> <br />by Vice Mayor Teague, duly seconded, and by unanimous recorded vote, Council <br /> <br />convened in Closed Session, for the purpose of discussing the following matters: <br /> <br />Appointments to various Boards/Commissions, as authorized by <br />Subsection 1: <br />1. Planning Commission <br />2. Industrial Development Authority <br />3. Southern Area Agency on Aging Board <br /> <br />At the conclusion of this Closed Session, each member of Council certified that <br /> <br />(1) only public business matters exempt from open meeting requirements ware <br /> <br />discussed in said Closed Session; and (2) only those business matters identified in the <br /> <br />motion convening the Closed Session ware heard, discussed, or considered during said <br /> <br />Session. Upon retum to Open Session, Council took the following actions: <br /> <br />Aw <br /> <br />Appointments to various Boards/Commission, as authorized <br />by Subsection1: <br />1. Council Member Roop moved to appoint Barbara M <br /> Cousins, of 211 Stuart Street, and Phillip Garrett, of <br /> 217 Thomas Heights, to four-year terms on the <br /> Planning Commission, expiring June 30, 2004; the <br /> motion was duly seconded and carried by the <br /> following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; <br /> Yeas (5)- Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; <br /> Nays (0) - None. <br />2. Council Member Dallas moved to appoint Clyde L. <br /> Williams, Jr., of 900 Fayette Street, to complete a <br /> four-year term on the Industrial Development <br /> Authority, expiring September 26, 2002; the motion <br /> was duly seconde~l'a~K:! carried by the following vote, <br /> with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - <br /> Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0)- <br /> None.
