July 25, 2000 Council considered the need to meet in Closed Session. In accordance with Section 2.1-344 (A) of the Code of Vir.qinia (1950, and as amended) and upon motion by Vice Mayor Teague, duly seconded, and by unanimous recorded vote, Council convened in Closed Session, for the purpose of discussing the following matters: Appointments to various Boards/Commissions, as authorized by Subsection 1: 1. Planning Commission 2. Industrial Development Authority 3. Southern Area Agency on Aging Board At the conclusion of this Closed Session, each member of Council certified that (1) only public business matters exempt from open meeting requirements ware discussed in said Closed Session; and (2) only those business matters identified in the motion convening the Closed Session ware heard, discussed, or considered during said Session. Upon retum to Open Session, Council took the following actions: Aw Appointments to various Boards/Commission, as authorized by Subsection1: 1. Council Member Roop moved to appoint Barbara M Cousins, of 211 Stuart Street, and Phillip Garrett, of 217 Thomas Heights, to four-year terms on the Planning Commission, expiring June 30, 2004; the motion was duly seconded and carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5)- Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0) - None. 2. Council Member Dallas moved to appoint Clyde L. Williams, Jr., of 900 Fayette Street, to complete a four-year term on the Industrial Development Authority, expiring September 26, 2002; the motion was duly seconde~l'a~K:! carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 5 - 0; Yeas (5) - Crabtree, Dallas, Ferrill, Roop, Teague; Nays (0)- None.
