Ronald Ferrill <br /> <br />I. Consider approval of the minutes of City Council's meeting of <br /> September 26, 2000. (See Enclosure #1) <br /> <br /> II. <br /> <br />Ill. <br /> <br />IV. <br /> <br />Business from the floor. <br /> <br />Conduct a Public Hearing and consider approval, on first reading, <br />of Ordinance No. 2000-7 amending Chapter 21--Taxation, Article <br />III--Tax on Purchasers of Utility Services of the City Code. <br />(See Enclosure #2) <br /> <br />COMMENTS: Following Council's Public Hearing on this matter, <br />we recommend that Council approve this Ordinance on first <br />reading. <br /> <br />Conduct a Public Hearing and consider adoption, on an emergency <br />basis, of an Ordinance authorizing the issuance of up to <br />$3,100,000 maximum principal amount of a Solid Waste Revenue <br />Bond of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, for purposes of assisting <br />in improvements to the City of Martinsville Landfill, and providing <br />for the form, details and payment thereof. (See Enclosure #3) <br /> <br />COMMENTS: Following Council's Public Hearing on this mater, <br />we recommend that Council adopt this Ordinance on an <br />emergency basis. <br /> <br />Consider authorizing the City Treasurer to refund $1,569.68 to <br />Nelson Pontiac Buick GMC because of overpayment of taxes for the <br />tax years 1997 and 1998. (See Enclosure #4) <br /> <br />COMMENTS: As you will note from Ronnie Minter's correspon- <br />dence, these overpayments were the result of erroneous gross <br />receipts reported for 1997 and 1998 for Business License. The <br />City Attorney has reviewed this information and recommends that <br />Council authorize the City Treasurer to refund this overpayment. <br /> <br /> <br />
